Ok, I'll admit it; I've never actually seen West Side Story. All of my knowledge of it comes from references in modern media, mainly, jokes about it. So, for all I know, maybe they somehow managed to make a bunch of snapping, dancing gang member menacing, but I really don't see how. Not when there are jazz hands and tap to counter it.


This joke actually came to me as a joke about it was on Frazier.
Frasier: You refused to take me to see West Side Story on my 8th birthday.
Marty: Because of the gangs! Those would be scary to any kid!
Frasier: Even gangs that dance?
Marty: Especially gangs that dance!
And I thought to myself, "Gee, I kind of know how to handle myself if I have to fight someone. I also kind of know how to evade multiple people, but what would I do if I was attacked by a group of snapping, dancing gang members?" And, that's where this comic came from. Now I practice jazz hands every day, so I can combat these gangs, should I ever encounter them.
